Friday Roundup: Crab Feeds and Watercolors
Writing is just exercise with a thesaurus in hand: Feeling very grateful, anxious, and underprepared about leading a workshop and giving a keynote speech for the Scholastic Writing Awards this Saturday. Now if I can just come up with a few fresh metaphors...
All-you-can-eat "sea-bug-meat": Still feeling full after joining my Ma & Pa for the annual Helix Crab Feed. An all-you-can-eat shrimp, crab, salmon, oyster, and clam chowder extravaganza (with proceeds going to the after-school program), I think I'll try to make it a yearly affair.
The fam in pen and watercolor: Still staring at Siggy's recent birthday gift to me (pictured above) - a drawing/painting by the talented Diana Shafer of our little Fairfield trio. I love love love it.
Weird science: For those who missed it a few weeks back, the "Story Story Night" podcast featuring yours truly just went up. Give it a listen. I'm proud of it.
These Broncos can dance: Congrats to Boise State men's basketball for their first top-25 ranking in school history. Can they make it past the first round? Keeping my fingers crossed.
Truth begins in darkness: Double congrats to friend Christian Lybrook for a) selling out the premier of "Zero Point," his web series produced in conjunction with filmmaking partner Greg Bayne and b) taking home the One Potato Award for screenwriting at the Sun Valley Film Festival. You're an inspiration, fella. Seriously.
